OUR CHARITY

Muscular Dystrophy Queensland

Muscular Dystrophy Queensland

Muscular Dystrophy (MD) isn’t just one condition—it’s the name for a group of over 60 rare genetic disorders that gradually weaken the body’s muscles. At the heart of MD is a tiny error in a person’s genetic code, preventing their body from producing the proteins muscles need to stay strong and healthy.

As time goes on, muscles begin to break down and lose their ability to function. Depending on the type of MD, this can impact everything from mobility to heart and lung function. Some forms are life-threatening and progress rapidly, while others are milder, affecting specific muscle groups and allowing for a full lifespan.

No matter the type, MD changes lives—and every diagnosis is a call for support, understanding, and action.
